A friend and I stopped in at Bottles last night for a long overdue catch up and some quiet cocktails. Bottles is well loved Mexican Restaurant and Bar, which I’m sure you have all been to at one point or another. Wednesday nights are big over there and you have to book a table in advance as they get very busy indeed. Fridays and Saturdays are fairly popular too, and often feature a live band singing covers of popular reggae and rock songs. As we were leaving we bumped into Davido and we were glad to see that we aren’t the only ones who live for those frozen margaritas…
Where: 8 Imam Agusto Close, off Olosa, off Karimu Kotun, Victoria Island, Lagos
Good for: Dinner and Drinks
Price range: The food is from N2,000 – N7,5000 so starters obviously are on the lower end of the spectrum and mains on the higher end. Their signature strawberry frozen margaritas come to about N1,300 per glass and N5,000 for a small pitcher.
Atmosphere: Colourful and relaxed with a cheerful, buzzy vibe
The Food: We mostly went there for the frozen strawberry margaritas but ended up ordering a bit of food. They give you complimentary nachos and salsa as soon as you arrive and we polished those off. We ended up ordering the Spinach and Artichoke dip with yet more nachos for BA, and the Garlic Prawns with rice for me, both of which were delicious. The dip was creamy and cheesy and the the prawn dish came with the most incredible buttery sauce. Not the most traditionally Mexican choices, I know, but everything else seemed to be a large meal and we weren’t really hungry, and only wanted to nibble. Around us however, other people were digging into steaks, quesilladas, burritos, enchiladas and what not, which smelled really good. I like the fact that it isn’t only a drinks place or only a food place – you can basically have whatever you want there and be quite comfortable.
The Service: Friendly and attentive
