Happy New Year everyone. I trust that you all had a wonderful Christmas break. I had to work all through the holidays but I still managed to have a great time with the family, catch up with a few friends, grab a good amount of rest, and eat a lot more than I should have. I now have a little pot belly which I’ve caught myself stroking absent-mindedly but I plan to get rid of it the moment I polish off the last of the Christmas pudding in my fridge. What hope is there of things going back to normal when the house is still bursting at the seams with decadent Christmas goodies?
Speaking of Christmas goodies, I have been meaning to post pictures of Christmas day lunch. We were designated hosts for Christmas day this year, and there were about 30 of us wider family members for lunch, so you can imagine what fun I had in the kitchen, designing a menu and cooking up a storm. I have come to terms with the fact that I am a huge geek and that sort of challenge excites rather than terrifies me. I cannot begin to explain how knackered I was afterward, but I am glad to report that the meal turned out really well. We all had a very merry Christmas indeed. I managed to take a few pictures of the food prep but there ended up being so much to do that I gave up after a while, and got my parents to just take photos of the finished dishes as they got to the table. I’m still sorting through them, and I plan to have them up this coming weekend.
In the meantime, I would like to wish you all a very happy new year. I pray that it will be a successful and enjoyable year, and that we’ll all be here together in January 2015 looking back on a wonderful year, and daring the new one to live up to the last. Onwards and upwards and God bless!
